Christine Whitaker, 88, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on May 16, 2018 at Summit Place in Kings Mountain, NC. She was born in Martin County, NC, to the late William Gray Leary and Lucy Rogers Leary and was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Johnnie Whitaker. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Robert, Elmer, Mack, and Albert Leary. Christine was retired from the Cleveland County School System where she served as a cafeteria worker for 19 years. She attended Oak View Baptist Church for 39 years. Christine enjoyed doing needle work, crocheting and reading. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved gardening and sewing. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  
SURVIVORS:  Daughters: Nellie Dibble and husband Mike, Louisa, VA, Brenda Sammons and husband James, Muscatine, IA, Lucy Williams and husband Scott, Kings Mountain, NC and Tina Carter and husband Jonathan, Troutman, NC
Sons: William Whitaker and wife Nancy, Delphi, IN and John Whitaker and wife Holly, Huntersville, NC
Brother: Raymond Leary, Williamston, NC   Sister: Mildred Hoell, Williamston, NC
12 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren
FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, Kings Mountain, NC with Rev. Billy Cooper officiating
VISITATION: Monday, May 21, 2018 from 10;00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home
INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC
