Gene Franklin Austin

Gene Franklin Austin, 84, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on February 21, 2018 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. Born in Gaston County , he was Son of the late Asa Franklin Austin and Viola Black Walker. Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis Ware Austin, a brother, Darrell Austin and sister, Kellye Walker. He was the former owner/operator of Fashion Cleaners. Gene was a local radio personality featured on WKMT for many years, and worked for Carolina Medical Supply. He served as the Assistant State Director with the Babe Ruth Baseball Association for many years. Gene was a member of Kings Mountain Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon and Choir member for many years. He was also a Kings Mountain Little Theater supporter and participant. Gene was a loving husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

Brother: Garrett Walker and wife Diane, Morganton NC

Special Cousin: Richard Jordan and wife Sandra, Gastonia NC

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Kings Mountain Baptist Church, Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Pastor Tim Whitesides and Pastor Robert Eng officiating

VISITATION: Friday, February 23, 2018 from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM prior to the service at Kings Mountain Baptist Church Fellowship Hall
