Leonora Eoline Keeter Hord
Eoline Hord, 96, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on September 11, 2019 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC. 
Mrs. Hord was born December 7, 1922, in Grover, NC to Byron and Mary Alston Keeter.  She was raised in Kings Mountain, NC, where she lived most of her life.
Mrs. Hord graduated from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, NC, and Furman University in Greenville, SC.  She was a teacher in Concord, NC, and also in Kings Mountain. 
On August 9, 1946, Eoline Keeter married Dr. David Fletcher Hord, Jr.  They lived in San Antonio, Texas and in Columbia, SC, while Dr. Hord served in the United States Army. 
Mrs. Hord was a member of Kings Mountain Baptist Church.  She was a choir member for many years.  Mrs. Hord was also a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, circle member, Vacation Bible School teacher, and children's choir leader.  She took many groups to Camp Caswell for music camp in the summers, along with her dear friend, Edie Bridges.  Mrs. Hord also taught Sunday School at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Mrs. Hord was a member of several organizations, including the Magnolia Garden Club, the Home Arts Club, and PEO.  She was a volunteer at Kings Mountain Hospital for many years, and was awarded the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year in 2012.  Mrs. Hord served as a hospital trustee for many years as well.   
Mrs. Hord was preceded in death by her parents; her husband David Fletcher Hord, Jr.  and her sister Kathryn Jo Keeter Madison.  She is survived by five children:  Mary Jo Whitley (Stan) of Winston-Salem, Barbara Fulton (Corky) of Kings Mountain, David Hord (Bonnie) of Salisbury, Nancy Bunch (Ed) of Asheboro, and Anne Gamble (Johnny) of Kings Mountain,  She is survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Hord is also survived by her brother-in-law, Randolph Madison, of Petersburg, VA. 
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September, 14, 2019, at  2:00 PM at Kings Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Whitesides officiating. 
Visitation will be held Friday, September 13, 2019,  from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harris Funeral Home
