NAME: JOHN B. DILLING, Jr.
- John B. Dilling, Jr., age 87, a resident of 202 Victoria Circle, died March 29, 2011 at Hospice/Wendover in Shelby, NC. He was a native of Kings Mountain, son of the late John Berry Dilling, Sr. and Anna King Dilling. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Carpenter Dilling, a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Margaret Dilling, and sister, Mary Frances Dilling. He attended NCSU. In 1955 he was the founder of Dilling Heating, Inc. which is now carried on by his son, David. John was a past director of Piedmont Heating and Air Association. He was an avid duckpin bowler, who won numerous tournaments and awards, founder of Mountain Lanes, the only duckpin bowling lanes in the southeast, past president and life member of the National Duckpin Bowling Congress, a member of the Duckpin Hall of Fame and the Kings Mountain Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Dilling was a WW II veteran serving in the Army Air Force. He was also a member of Central United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain, the Fairview Masonic Lodge # 339 and the American Legion Post # 155.
