Arthur Houston Smith, aged 93, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on July 24, 2025, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, North Carolina. Born on July 10, 1932, in Catawba County, North Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late Arthur Ray and Vertie Houston Smith. He was preceded in death by his cherished siblings, Peggy Hord Gladden, Paul Smith, and Bob Smith. He served honorably in the United States Air Force. Arthur dedicated many fulfilling years to his work at UMC Lithium Corporation before retiring. His adventurous spirit shone through in his passion for big game hunting, which took him to various hunting grounds across the United States and even the majestic landscapes of Africa. His home was adorned with trophies from his remarkable adventures, a testament to his love for exploration. Active throughout his lifetime, Arthur found joy in hiking, always choosing the challenging routes and embracing the beauty of nature in all its forms. He was devoted to helping his community and generously volunteered at the South Carolina State Park and the Gateway Trails. Arthur’s loving spirit and enthusiasm for life touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry his memory forward.

A private graveside service will be held at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
