Bedie Towery Surber, 97, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, passed away on June 19, 2024 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, just shy of her 98th birthday. Born on June 30, 1926 in Cleveland County, North Carolina, she was daughter of the late Fred and Sarah Elmore Towery and was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Bill Howell Surber, sisters Grace Cruz and Ruby Walker, and brothers Paul and Bobby Towery. Bedie was a longtime member of her beloved church home, Kings Mountain Baptist Church. She worked for Mauney Hosiery in the paring department before retiring from Plastic Products. She was an avid reader. She loved to crochet and cooking Sunday dinners for her family, working in her yard, and watching Christmas movies on TV. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a wonderful Wife and very loved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Her memory will be cherished by her children and grandchildren all the days of their lives. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

SURVIVORS: Son: Billy Surber of Kings Mountain, NC Daughter: Sherry Cochrane Freeze and husband, Joel, of Mooresville, NC Grandson: Todd Cochrane and fiance, Julie, of Belmont, NC Great-grandsons: Grant Cochrane and fiance, Rachel, of Greenville, SC, and Jackson Cochrane, US Navy, stationed in Harrisburg, PA

FUNERAL SERVICE: Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Kings Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Whitesides officiating.

VISITATION: Sunday, June 23, 2024 prior to the service from 1:15 to 1:50 P.M. at Kings Mountain Baptist Church.

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery
