DATELINE:  YORK, SOUTH CAROLINA Bernadette Malphrus

Bernadette Malphrus, 83, of York, South Carolina, passed away on July 20, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, North Carolina. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Kurtyka and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Louise, and grandson, Norman Espenoza. Bernadette moved from Chicago to Savannah, Georgia for about five years before relocating to the York area where she had been ever since. Bernadette is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and she will be missed by all who love her and hold her memory close.

SURVIVORS: Son: Vincent Mates and wife, Cynthia, of Kings Mountain Grandson: Colin Mates

The family will hold a memorial service at Divine Saviour Catholic Church in York, South Carolina with details to be announced at a later date.
