Bertha Opal Crandall, age 81, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024.
She was born in Jackson County to the late Lambert Stewart and Polly Williams Stewart. Bertha was a member of Pine Creek Baptist Church and attended Mid-View Baptist Church in King's Mountain where she had lived for many years.
She enjoyed having her nose in a good book, beautiful flowers, a Hardees biscuit, and a Nutty Buddy bar. Bertha could be found with Elvis on the radio, or in front of the television watching John Wayne and Wheel of Fortune.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michal Lewis Moss; brothers, Joe Stewart, Odell Stewart, Lambert Stewart, and Charles Stewart; her first husband, Buster Lewis Moss; and her second husband, Bill Crandall.
She is survived by her brother, Gene Stewart; grandson, Michal Moss; cousin and best friend, Mamie Lou Peeler; daughter in law, Teresa Moss; sisters in law, Zoney, Linda, and Mavis; best friend, Betty Page; and many more cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Opal’s life will take place 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Pine Creek Baptist Church, 4338 Pine Creek Road, Cullowhee. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Mountain Rest Cemetery, 111 South Dilling Street, Kings Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Four Seasons Hospice.
