Betty Jo Benton

BETTY BELL BENTON -Betty Bell Benton, age 84, a resident of Kings Mountain, NC entered her heavenly home on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Testa Hospice House, Kings Mtn. NC She was born in Cleveland County, NC to the late June Marion and Lillie Adams Bell. An active member of Kings Mountain Baptist Church, Betty loved her church family. Despite her age, she continued to serve as Church Librarian and Historian, sang in the choir, was a member of the Keenagers. Betty was also an ordained deacon. A member of Kings Mountain Womans Club where she held many offices over 30 years. She was awarded "Woman with a Heart" Award in 2011 and "Woman of the Year" along with District III "Club Woman of the Year" in 2012. She enjoyed farming, and being a member of the Cleveland County Cattleman's Association. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Odell Benton. Four Sisters, Maude Bridges of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Ruth White of Kings Creek, SC, Pauline Eldridge of Harrisburg, PA, and Margaret Lamar of Paris, TN.

SURVIVORS: Son: Gary Dale Benton and wife Patricia "Pat" Cook Benton, Kings Mtn, NC 2 Grandchildren: Nicholas "Nick" Benton, Kristen Benton Hamrick and husband Travis, all of Kings Mountain. NC 3 Great Grandchildren: Layla Benton, Kayleigh and Kyleigh Hamrick.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Kings Mountain Baptist Church, Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Tim Whitesides, officiating.

VISITATION: 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, September 7, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, North Carolina

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
