DATELINE: CHERRYVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA Beverly Anne Germann Bailey

Beverly Anne Germann Bailey, 82, of Cherryville, NC, entered the gates of Heaven on July 29, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. She was born in Cook County, IL, daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle Ruth Krieman Germann and was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Joseph and Jack and 2 sisters, Viola and Marlene. Beverly was born into a large immigrant family with a hard work ethic, strong values, and exemplary character. Her father passed away when she was only 16 years of age and Beverly was tasked with helping to raise her younger siblings which without a doubt, prepped her for raising her two boys. Beverly's sole focus in life was raising her sons. She made sacrifice after sacrifice to ensure they had, if not what they wanted, at least what they needed. Later in life, if you asked her what made her most proud, her immediate response, with a grin from ear to ear was, “My two boys. They are successful in their careers, but more importantly they are loving, caring men with good values and character”. Beverly's email address was “Journeywon”, this was a self exclamation that indeed her selflessness and sacrifices for her boys truly resulted in her Journey Won. Her favorite things were walking and dancing. If you have been around downtown Kings Mountain for the past decade plus, you undoubtedly saw the tiny white haired lady walking, head down and arms swinging. If not lucky enough to witness her joyous dancing in person, you probably had a chance to witness it on social media. Without a doubt, Beverly brought cheerfulness and laughter to all she encountered. She loved birds, especially the cardinal, and would react with a child’s amazement every time she was lucky enough to see one. Beverly also loved Jesus and had absolute faith in her salvation. I’m quite sure that her late father is currently shaking his head in Heaven watching and wondering where his little “Bevy” obtained her joyous dance moves.  It’s fair to say that anyone that ever met that little girl from the South side of Chicago is a better person as a result. Good job, Beverly. Indeed your journey is won.

Left to cherish Beverly's memory are her sons, Richard Bailey Jr. and Matthew Bailey and wife Amy. Her siblings, Roger and wife Louise, Ron, JoAnn, and Connie (Jim). Her grandchildren: Carson, Emma, and Richard "Trey" Bailey.
