Funeral for Carl Junior Posey, 87, of Decatur, AL, will be Wednesday, 1:00 pm at Moulton Baptist Church with Lawrence Funeral Home directing and Dr. Darryl Wood officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4, from 11:00 to 1:00 at the church. Burial services for Mr. Posey will take place in Kings Mountain, North Carolina at Mountain Rest Cemetery with Harris Funeral Home directing and Felton Yeargan of Apex, North Carolina officiating. The visitation will be at Harris Funeral home on Saturday, March 7, from 12 noon until 1:00 with graveside service, including military honors, to follow. Mr. Posey was born April 5, 1927 in Hatton to Elmer and Lillian (Ray) Posey. He grew up in the area and became an active member and served as a lifetime deacon at Moulton Baptist Church. After moving to Decatur, Mr. Posey became a member of the Parkview Baptist Church and a member of the Joe Williams Sunday School class. Mr. Posey enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March of 1945 and served his country for two years as a medic before returning home. He was employed by Monsanto of Decatur before being transferred to Apex, North Carolina, where he retired after 26 years. While residing in Apex, Mr. Posey spent his free time coaching Pop Warner football teams, was an active volunteer with the Junior Chamber of Commerce (JC's) and served as the town's first Recreation Director for many years.
