Charles Leroy Powell Jr, 63, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on July 12, 2026 at his home. He was born July 23, 1962 in Oakland County, CA, son of the late Charles Leroy Powell Sr and Joyce Marie Pennington Powell. Charles served his county honorably in the US Army. He had a long career in textiles, finally retiring from Gildan corporation. Charles was a member of Grover Church of God where he faithfully worshiped for over 3 years. He loved spending time outdoors and was an avid carp fisherman. He was a die hard Alabama football fan and enjoyed spending time at home around the people he loved. Charles was a devoted and faithful provider for his family, and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather to 2 generations, uncle and friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him for a lifetime.

SURVIVORS: Wife of 16 years: Kathy Gillis Powell, of the home

Daughter: Elizabeth Powell, York, SC

Sisters: Sharon McAfee (Ray). Tammy Roberts (Brian), and Pamela Baker (Tim)

Grandchildren: Caleb and Kinsley Alexander and Elijah Powell

Great Grandchildren: Brenton Alexander and Paislee and Everleigh Montgomery

Special Niece: Stephanie Thompson

The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service on Staurday, July 18, 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Grover Church of God, officiated by Reverend Ron Hawkins. Receiving of friends will begin at 3:00 PM at the church.
