Darryl Steven Pruitt, 75, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on October 6, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center after a courageous fight against an aggressive cancer. Born on October 1, 1951, in Cleveland County, NC, he was the beloved son of the late Lawrence Chalmer and Katie Jones Pruitt. Darryl was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He was known for his talents in construction, sharing those talents on many job sites before his retirement. He lived independently, guided by his own principles and decisions. He was a dedicated son and brother. Darryl loved to travel, spending time with his many friends whose memories of him will live on in the lives of all those he touched. Darryl was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Darryl is survived by his brother, Pastor Dennis Pruitt and wife Patricia, Gastonia, NC, and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

In accordance with Darryl's wishes, no services will be held. If anyone wishes to honor Darryl’s life and memory, a donation may be made in his name to the Building Fund of Second Baptist Church of Kings Mountain, NC.
