KINGS MOUNTAIN- Dathia Lee Sanders, 91, resident of 302 Plantation Dr. in Kings Mountain died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. He was born in Cleveland County to the late Rufus James and Flossie Ledford Sanders. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Syble Wells Sanders, brothers, Rev. James Sanders, Fred Sanders, Boyd Sanders, and Arshel "Bill" Sanders; and sisters, Cloe Bowen and Ruby Conner. Mr. Sanders was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain and retired from Foote Mineral after 22 years and retired from Kings Mountain District Schools. He served in the United States Army, Pacific Theatre during World War II. A devoted husband, father and Paw Paw he was also known to many as a master carpenter. During the Cold War era he built the first fallout shelter in Cleveland County and then helped to construct shelters for others.
He also spent several years in Hofuf, Saudi Arabia doing construction work that he was commended for. The family would like to extend a special thanks to White Oak Manor for their special care. Sanders is survived by his sons David Sanders and wife Debbie, Gaffney, SC; Steve Sanders and fiancAC. Teresa Melton, Kings Mountain, and four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2:30 ? 3:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain.

Burial: Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain with Military Honors by the Marine Corp League
