David Gorden Nelson

David Gorden Nelson, 75, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on October 10, 2026 at Peak Resources Shelby in Grover, NC. Born August 15, 1951 on Fort Bragg, he was the son of the late Roy Gorden Nelson and Marie Strampe Nelson and was also preceded in death by his brother, Dale Nelson.

David loved God and served the Lord as best he could throughout his life. He was a talented musician and guitarist with an extensive catalog of original songs.

David is survived by his wife of 54 years, Teresa Shook Nelson; sons Matthew Nelson (Sherri) of Kings Mountain, Benjamin Nelson (Alexis) of Shelby, NC, and Jonathan Nelson of Kings Mountain; sister Donna Cabana (Greg) of Minnesota; grandchildren Tyler, Eric, Chloe, Allison, and Shayla Nelson; and great-grandson Ryan Nelson. He is also survived by a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the parlor of Harris Funeral Home.
