Dennis L. Goforth

DATELINE: RENO, NEVADA Dennis Leroy Goforth Dennis L Goforth, 96, passed away on April 17, 2022 in Reno, Nevada.  he was born February 28, 1926 in Miami Fl, and spent most of his childhood in Grover, NC., He lived in Kings Mountain, NC, most of his life. He moved to Nevada in 2005. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma Spakes Goforth and his second wife, Emma Bell Goforth, his parents, Franklin and Louvenia Turner Goforth, Sister Vera Ledford, brothers Franklin, Brevard, Warren and Gene Goforth, step-sons Joe Jenkins and Doug Jenkins, step-granddaughter Pricilla Jenkins and Rhonda Absher, and step-grandson, Nathan Jenkins. Dennis served in the Philippines during WWII. He was a purple Heart recipient and awarded two Bronze Battle Stars. He worked at Foote Mineral as a lab technician for 35 years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, hunting and fishing and dancing. Dennis was a member of the American Legion in Kings Mountain and a member and past Governor of the Kings Mountain Moose Lodge. He is survived by his daughters Sara Cash and Jerri Stinnett of Bessemer City, NC and Brenda McNeely of Sparks, Nevada, son Dennis L. Goforth Jr. of Bessemer City, NC, and step-son Mack Jenkins of Bessemer City, NC, sister Lucy Mode of Lincolnton, NC, 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
