December 6, 1919 — October 10, 2014

EMELYN D. GAINES - Emelyn D. Gaines, age 94, resident of Kings Mountain, NC passed away October 10, 2014 at White Oak Manor, Kings Mtn. NC. She was born in Cleveland Co, NC to the late Alex Baity Davis and Lucy Jane Anderson Davis. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Earl Harmon; second husband, Warren Dwight Gaines; brothers, Lloyd Davis, Lawrence Davis, Wesley Davis; and sisters, Villur Navy and Violet Johnson. She was a former employee of Plonk's Department Store, Kings Mtn. NC and worked in the textile industry. Mrs. Gaines was a member of First Baptist Church, Kings Mtn. NC and former member of the Foscoe Christian Church, Boone, NC. She was very active in the Foscoe Community including the Lion's Club, Boone, NC. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She cared deeply about her family and always enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren.

SURVIVORS: Son: Steve Harmon and wife Judy, Kings Mtn. NC Granddaughter: Holly Harmon Melton and husband Brad, Kings Mtn. NC 3 Great Grandchildren: John Harmon Melton, Charlie Melton, and Sarah Beth Melton.

FUNERAL SERVICE: First Baptist Church, Monday, October 13, 2014 2:00 P.M. Dr. John Sloan and ,Officiating.

VISITATION: 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 13, 2014 prior to the service in the Stained Glass Room of First Baptist Church other times at the home of the son, 406 Downing Drive, Kings Mountain, NC.

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
