Eugene Conner

GENE CONNER - Eugene "Gene" Conner, age 81, resident of 150 Valentine Drive, Shelby, NC died January 7, 2013 at Wendover Hospice, Shelby, NC. He was born in Cleveland Co. NC to the late Charles Pinkney and Florence Morrison Conner. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Reed Norman Conner, sisters, Pearl Bates, Ethel Neal, Eunice Lovelace, Bertha Blalock, Ada Conner, Betty Bolin and brothers, Clyde Conner, Fred Conner, Johnny Conner, and Ernest Conner. Mr. Conner was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC where he served as a former deacon, Sunday School teacher and youth leader. He retired from Hoechst Celanese, Spartanburg, SC and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a Mason and Shriner.

Conner and wife Mary Wray, Greenville, SC Daughters: Julia Ann Conner Cagle and husband Terry, Columbia, SC Joan Marie Conner Breazeale, Greenville, SC Brother:Bill Conner and wife Hazel, Greenville, SC Sister: Bonnie Collins, Blacksburg, SC 7 Grandchildren: Julia Lynn Cagle, Christopher Terry Cagle, Benjamin Conner Cagle, Rush Wray Conner, Patrick Norman Conner, Alexander Kenneth Conner, and Conner Austin Breazeale. 2 Step-Sons: Carey Odom, Hope Mills, NC and Chris Holder, Blandenboro, NC 3 Step-Grandchildren.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Antioch Baptist Church, Thursday, January 10, 2013 2:00 P.M. Rev. Harold Beam and Dr. Terry Cagle, officiating.

VISITATION: Thursday, January 10, 2013 immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

INTERMENT: Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Blacksburg, South Carolina
