- Evans Carroll, Sr. age 77, resident of 809 Katherine Ave., died January 7, 2011 at his home. He was a native of Cleveland Co., son of the late Finley Oates ?Doc? and Essie Wilson Carroll. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, James Carroll. He was a retired Maintenance Manager having worked for Akers Motorline, Bowman Transportation, Burgess Transportation and Carolina Western Trucking Co. Mr. Carroll served in the United States Army during the Korean War receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, White Plains Shriners, Fairview Masonic Lodge #339 and the Maintenance Council. He loved fishing and was a jack of all trades. A loving husband, father and grandfather.
