NAME: FRANKLIN D. ‘BILL’ KIRBY

Franklin “Bill” Kirby, 83, formerly of Grover, NC, passed away on May 13, 2017 at Brian Center, Brevard, NC. Born in Spartanburg County, SC he was the son of the late Rufus Guy Kirby and Lillie Murray Kirby. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Ethel Barrett Kirby, his sister Becky Wall, his brothers Ivey, Alfred, and Fred “Worry” Kirby. Bill retired from FMC/Lithium Corporation. After his retirement he worked for Keeter Furniture in Grover and Winn Dixie in Kings Mountain. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Grover where he was affectionally known as the “Candy Man”. Always candy at the ready for all the little ones. He epitomized being a servant of the Lord by faithfully visiting the hospital and nursing homes before his illness. Bill was a charter member of the Rescue Squad of Grover and member of the Lions Club of Grover. A special thank you to the Brian Center of Brevard, North Carolina

SURVIVORS: Daughter: Tammy Kirby Gunn and husband Tommy, Lawndale, NC

Grandchildren: Todd Blanton and Kelsey Blanton (Erin).

Numerous nieces and nephews.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE: First Baptist Church, Grover NC, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 3:00 PM with Rev. Paul Sorrells and Rev. John Barnhardt officiating.

VISITATION: One hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

MEMORIALS: First Baptist Church Grover, 403 Cleveland Ave, Grover, NC 28073

INTERMENT: Grover Cemetery, Grover, NC
