DATELINE:  GASTONIA, NORTH CAROLINA Fred Compton Fred Compton, 95, of Gastonia, NC, passed away on March 03, 2019 at his home surrounded by friends and loved ones. He was born in Gaston County, NC, to the late William Lem Compton and Annie Flume Compton and was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie, Clarence, Charles and Leonard Compton and his sisters, May Hagans, Carrie Hagans, Annie Jane Compton Hardin and Gertrude Huffstetler Chaney. Fred was a hard worker who dedicated his life to farming. Fred served his county honorably in the US Army during World War II. He loved being outside whether it was working on his tractors, tending his cows or putting up hay. Fred loved being around children and was a dedicated and giving friend. He will be missed dearly by his friends and loved ones.
