Harriet Black Davis

Harriet Black Davis, 83, of Saluda, SC, formally of Kings Mountain, passed away on September 8, 2020. Born in Saluda County, SC she was the daughter of the late Olando William Black Jr. and Sallie Edwards Black. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Robert Gray "Bob" Davis, Sr. and brother, William E. Black. Harriet was born on August 11,1937. She was a 1958 graduate of Limestone College in Gaffney, SC and a 1960 graduate of South Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. She retired from Gaston County Schools after 30 years of service as an educator and teacher. She enjoyed collecting antiques, going to estate sales and flea markets, and spending time with her grandchildren.

SURVIVORS: Sons: Robert Gray. Davis, Jr. Saluda, SC; Ashley Davis (Juhayna),  Essex Fells, NJ; Benji Davis (Stacey), Hendersonville, TN;

Grandchildren: Kristi Davis and husband Will, Richmond, Virginia;

Meredith Davis, New York, New York; Laith and Kais Davis, Essex Fells NJ;

Ben Davis, Kendall Davis, Owen Davis, Hendersonville, TN

Sister-in-law: Rebecca Thomasson, Starkville, MS

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Sunday, September 13, 2020, 2:00 PM, Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC with Rev. Dan Oedy officiating

GRAVESIDE VISITATION: The family will speak with friends from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the graveside

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601
