Hubert Bowen

HUBERT BOWEN - Hubert Bowen, age 91, resident of Kings Mountain., passed away January 21, 2012 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. He was a native of Cleveland Co., son of the late June and Ethel McMurry Bowen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Cloe Sanders Bowen and 5 sisters. He was retired from Lithium Corp. after 32 years of service and also a carpenter and farmer. Mr. Bowen was the last surviving charter member of Westover Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and also helped to organize New Buffalo Baptist Church in Grover, NC. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the United States Army, 43rd Infantry, and received the Bronze Star of Valor, Japanese Occupation Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He loved working and playing with his grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Barker, Anita Jones, Lou Ann Devine, Priscilla Brooks, Terry Floyd and Kings Mountain Hospice House.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Westover Baptist Church, Kings Mountain Tuesday, January 24, 2012 2:00 P.M. Rev. Roger Webb and Nathan Sanders, officiating

VISITATION: 6:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M., Monday evening, January 23, 2012, Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, NC and at other times at the home of the son, Roger Bowen, 1050 Dick Elam Rd., Kings Mountain

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain with Full Military Honors provided by the Marine Corp League, Foothills Detachment
