Jake Hicks

CLOVER, S.C. - Mr. Jacob George "Jake" Hicks, 83, of Clover, S.C., died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.
He was born in Cleveland County, son of the late James Miles Hicks and Viola Morris Hicks. He retired from Victory Mill and was an active member of Ridge Baptist Church in Gastonia, where he served as a deacon for more than 40 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, J.B. Hicks; grandson, Eric William Norris; sister, Helen Hamrick Kiser; and three brothers, Albert Lee Hicks, J.M. Hicks and Sidney Hicks.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beatrice Tessneer Hicks of Clover, S.C.; daughters, Margie Norris and husband, Tony R. Norris, of Kings Mountain, Brenda Williamson of Gastonia and Lisa H. Smith and husband, Bobby D. Smith of Clover, S.C.; brothers, Tommy Hicks of Grover, Paul Hicks of Kings Mountain and Franklin Hicks of Shelby; sisters, Mary Boheler of Clover, S.C., Betty Jean Ledbetter of Kings Mountain and Lydia Putnam of Kings Mountain; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Friday, Jan. 22, 1 p.m., Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, Kings Mountain
Officiated by: The Revs. Chester Waters, Larry Cain and Gene Ware
Visitation: The family will receive friends Friday, 11:30 to 12:30 p.m., before the service, at Harris Funeral Home.
