James Vassuer Allen, 70, of Blacksburg, SC, passed away on January 23, 2024 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, NC. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late William Austin and Eva Mae Bowen Allen and was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Raymond Allen and a sister, Frances Ledford. Vassuer was a member of Shelby Missionary Methodist Church. He enjoyed staying busy, working in construction, as a sawmill operator and plumber for most of his life. Vassuer was a jack of all trades and loved fixing anything that was broken and completing projects around his home. He was an avid fisherman and spent countless days on the water doing what he loved. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who made sure he spoke with his children multiple times everyday. He loved being with his family, whether taking a meal, fishing, a family cruise, or just sitting around the house, Vassuer was always happiest when his loved ones were near him. His dedication, hard work, life lessons, and love will be remembered and cherished for a lifetime by all those who loved him

SURVIVORS: Children: Jamie Allen (Jennifer Cobb), Grover, NC, Kevin Allen (Laura Lawson), Shelby, NC, and Ashley Allen (Sean Laughridge), Blacksburg, SC Stepson: Phillip Pruitt (Kayla), Boiling Springs, NC Grandchildren: Austin McDaniel (Mindy), Blake Allen, Brandon Allen, Zachery Champion, and Alana Laughridge Step Grandchildren: Naudhia, Tyler, and Lauren Pruitt Siblings: RL Allen, Linda Daily (Mike), Evelyn Bell (Kenneth), and Pauline Perkins (Richard) Brother-in-law: Gene Ledford

CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE: The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Shelby Missionary Methodist Church with Pastors David Black and Jerry Allen officiating

VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church.

The family will gather at other times at the home of Ashley Allen, 418 Holly Ridge Road, Blacksburg, SC
