DATELINE:  GROVER, NORTH CAROLINA Jimmy Lee Bowens Jimmy Lee Bowens, 78, of Grover, NC, passed away on July 31, 2020 at Atrium Health   in Shelby, NC. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Glenn and Junie Bell Hord Bowens and was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth, Reese Dale and Larry Bowens and a sister, Geneva Hord. Jimmy was a Christian of the Baptist faith. He retired from the textile industry after many years of service. He was a people person and was called a friend by many. He loved playing the banjo and formerly belonged to The Roust-a-Bouts and Nelson Young and the Sandy Valley Boys bands. Jimmy enjoyed playing bluegrass for a number of churches during his life and loved attending the Country Jam in Blacksburg, SC. His talent was requested by Donna Douglas (Elly May Clampett) on several occasions during her visits to the area. Jimmy was a wonderful person, dedicated husband and loving father and grandfather. His friendship and talent will be missed by many people.
