John David Bennett passed away at home on March 5, 2024. John was born in Gastonia on October 6, 1947 to Clyde T. and Etta Bell Bennett. He was employed as President of Bennett Brick and Tile for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Diana Bennett Reeves and his grandson, Jonathon Trent Reeves, also a brother, Clyde T. Bennett (Marlene). He loved his special cats; Holly and Roswell, watching Sci-Fi, and calling his daughter "Baby Doll". John was a talented musician and performed with the Caravelles, Scratch, and the Phineas Taylor Band. John also directed and performed in many stage plays in Shelby, Kings Mountain, and Charlotte. John left us this poem to remember him by. I smell the breath of the angel of death and know it comes for me. Now that my life here is over and done, all things considered, I've had a good run. So goodbye to this world and those I leave in it. Farewell, take care, and remember... John Bennett.
