NAME: JOHN MELVIN DAVEY, Jr.

- John Melvin Davey, Jr, age 57 of Kings Mountain, passed away January 8, 2017 at his residence. Born in Gogebic, County Michigan, he was the son of the late John Melvin Davey and Shirley Mae Broemer Davey. He was also preceded in death by sisters Judith Ann Eklund, Lori Ann Stark and brother Glenn Russell Davey. He was employed with Firestone Industries in Kings Mountain. He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy where he was a photographer. John was known for his smile and his easy going personality.

Sisters: June Elaine Greer, Memphis, TN and Ruth Marie Coogan, Madison, TN

Grandchildren: Abagail Bowen, Hunter Cox, Andrew Bowen, Brittany Cox, Brooke Cox, Jasmine Davey.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, January 14, 2017, 2:00 PM, Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel.

VISITATION: Friday, January 13, 2017, 7 PM – 9 PM, Harris Funeral Home

INTERMENT: Full Military Honors provided by the Marine Corp League, Foothills Detachment: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC
