LINA THOMPSON OWENS - Lina Thompson Owens, age 89, a resident of York Road, Kings Mountain, NC, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Kings Mountain Hospice House. Born in Kershaw, S.C., daughter of the late Simon Lee and Wincie Ann Courtney Thompson and was preceded in death by her late husband, Alex Denton Owens, her brothers, Erskine Thompson, Maxwell Thompson, Claude Thompson and Sheron Thompson and sister Fay Thompson Lathan. She was a public school teacher for 25 years and retired from Kings Mountain District Schools. An active member of Kings Mountain Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, she taught Sunday School in the Harmony Class and was active in the WMU and Keenagers. She was a member of the ADK for 20 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who liked to sew, cook and read. SURVIVORS: Daughters: Ann O.
