MARY SIMPSON MAUNEY - Mary Simpson Mauney, age 96 passed away peacefully on December 26, 2016 at Summit Place, Kings Mountain, NC. She was born in Calhoun Co, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Simpson and Frances Best Simpson West. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William Kemp Mauney, Jr.; and daughters, Mary Leigh Broadwell and Martha Jane Mauney; and brothers, Bill Simpson and Jimmy Simpson. Mrs. Mauney was a longtime member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Kings Mtn. NC and a homemaker. She was a former member of the Kings Mountain Woman's Club and the Kings Mountain Garden Club. She was a wonderful friendly lady who was loved by everyone. She was an accomplished gardener, her love of nature and the outdoors were her inspiration. She appreciated and cherished God's natural beauty wherever she traveled. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Summit Place and Hospice of Cleveland Co. for their excellent and dedicated care of Mrs. Mauney.

NC Their sons, David Britton Faunce, III and wife Bridget and great grandson, Blake Faunce and Justin Howard Faunce and wife Rachel and great granddaughter, Savannah and great grandson, Byers. Son: William Kemp Mauney, III and wife Debbie, Kings Mtn. NC Grandson, William Kemp Mauney, IV and granddaughter, Ame Mauney Guy and husband Morgan and great grandson, William Ryan Guy. Granddaughter: Natalie Turner Manning and husband Michael, great granddaughters, Mary Leigh Elizabeth Manning and Charlotte Avery Manning. Grandson: Rowland Goodrich Turner, III and wife Nikki and great grandsons, Zachary Alexander Turner and Austin Turner. Grandson: Ryan Broadwell and wife Elaina and great granddaughters, Ainsleigh and Anna Granddaughter: Jennifer Jo Broadwell Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Saturday December 31, 2016 2:00 P.M. Rev. Wesley Frye and Rev. Dr. Ed Crotty, officiating.
VISITATION: immediately following the service at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
INTERMENT: William Kemp Mauney Family Mausoleum, Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
