Wilmington

DATELINE: WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA

Michael Dean Rippy

Michael Dean Rippy entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on January 17, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in Cleveland County on November 21, 1949, he was son of the late W.G. “Dub” Rippy and Pauline Short. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Deese.

Michael served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War before marrying the love of his life, Sherry Lynn Faulkner. Michael loved working for ACT, Inc with his good friends. He and Sherry recently moved to Wilmington, NC to spend more time with their daughter, Taylor and grandson, Wells. Michael enjoyed playing with Wells, playing the guitar, and going to church. Michael was a man of faith who trusted in God’s promises and found strength in prayer. He lived his life with devotion, striving to love others as Christ taught.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry, daughter Taylor (Clay), grandson Wells, and nephew Mark (Lauri) who find comfort in knowing that Michael is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.

A funeral service will be held on January 30th at Allen Memorial Baptist Church in Grover, North Carolina. The family will receive friends at 1pm with a service to follow at 2pm.

Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the hope of eternal life, knowing that Michael has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” His faith and love will continue to live in the hearts of those who loved him.
