DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA Millard Edwin "Ed" Clemmer, Jr.
Millard "Ed" Clemmer, Jr., 87, of Grover, North Carolina, passed away on October 8, 2024 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby. Born August 6, 1937 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Millard Edwin Clemmer, Sr. and Marjorie Hampton Clemmer. Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Lynda Johnson Clemmer, brother George Clemmer, and sister Louise Clemmer Bolick. He graduated with the Class of 1957 from Newberry High School in Newberry, South Carolina, then played freshman football at Clemson University. Ed served his country honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard. He had a job as a loan officer with Wells Fargo in Whittier, California, then worked as a long-haul truck driver for Wood Trucking out of Wauseon, Ohio. He retired from BMW of Greenville, South Carolina. Ed was a football fanatic who lived and breathed Clemson football and would watch any game that was on, regardless of league, team, or skill level. He loved drinking coffee and snacking on popcorn. Ed was a loving father and devoted husband who sacrificed and worked hard his whole life to provide for his family. His memory will be cherished fondly by the loved ones he leaves behind.
SURVIVORS: Children: Beth Blanton and husband, Eric, of Kings Mountain, NC; Edwin Clemmer of Grover, NC; and Stacy Dodson and husband, Mike, of Allen, TX Grandchildren: Taylor Watts, Tristan Blanton, and Christopher Bruce Great-grandchildren: Davey Watts, Halle Bruce, Addyson Bruce, and Elliott Bruce
