Mitchell "Shorty" Baldie King

Born April 2, 1949 in Terrytown, Georgia and passed away October 20, 2026 at the Testa Hospice Home in Kings Mountain, NC. Parents of Mitchell are John Baldie King and Mildred Lillian (Falls) King. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. Mitchell leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Deborah, and four daughters, Renee’ King of Nebraska, Catherine (Patrick) McLeod of High Point, Brittany King of Kings Mountain, and Andrea King of Charlotte. Mitchell also leaves behind brothers Hunter, Fred and George and sister Darlene (Steve) Swearingen, all of Georgia, in addition to three granddaughters, one grandson and many other family members.

Mitchell was in the United States Air Force for 24 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant as a C-130 loadmaster. After retiring his dream was to drive a truck hauling fuel. He was a volunteer fireman in Nebraska for eight years until moving back to NC in 2000 where he remained until his death. His hobbies included cruising and camping with family and friends, as well as taking long walks with his dog.
