Naomi Kirby Smith

June 21, 1942 — September 11, 2025

Bessemer City, North Carolina

Naomi Kirby Smith, 83, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away on September 11, 2025 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation in Cherryville, NC. Born June 21, 1942 in Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ezell Kirby and Judith Messina and was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years William "Freddy" Smith, brothers Tony and Don Kirby, and sister Gloria Smith. Naomi lived her faith in Jesus Christ out loud and was a true prayer warrior who could often be found bending God's ear. Her family will remember her as the supportive wife behind the legendary "Southern Gentleman" dirt track racer, a loving mother, and a doting "Nay-Nay" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Naomi was a wonderful grandmother, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren thought the world of her. Cherished memories of Naomi will be a blessing to all those she leaves behind.
