Norma McDonald Messick

Norma McDonald Messick, 78, formerly of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away on February 9, 2026 at home in Gastonia, NC. Born June 9, 1947 in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Mary Frances McDonald and was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Frank Messick. Norma was a loving wife, mother, and Nanny and will be missed by her family.

A Bible verse very near to her heart was, "Do everything in love." - 1 Corinthians 16:14

SURVIVORS: Daughter: Ginger Hice and husband, Todd, of Gastonia, NC

Grandchildren: Katie Hice Hutchins and husband, Nicholas, Michael Tedd Hice, Sammy-Jo Warskow and husband, Richard, and Coleman Barrett and wife, Alyssa

Great-Grandchildren: Sawyer Hutchins, James Hutchins, and Hunter Luke Warskow

Norma is also survived by her best friend of 42 years, Donna Taylor, and special friends Kay and Charles Pumphrey.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: The family will hold a memorial service on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 12:30 P.M. with Rev. Wayne Brazzell officiating at Oak View Baptist Church, 1517 York Rd., Kings Mountain, NC 28086

INTERMENT: Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia, North Carolina
