DATELINE:  KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA Reverend Robert "Bob" Houston Hope

Reverend Bob Hope, 90, of Kings Mountain, NC, entered into the Gates of Heaven on April 6, 2025, departing from White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain. He was born September 4, 1934 in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late George Junior and Maggie Humphries Hope and was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty Ruth Alexander Hope. Bob was also preceded in death by his son, Jim Hope, two daughters, Donna Short and Ronda Collins, his son in law, Rodney Short, his brothers, Winford, Buster, Jack, Don, Jerry, and Steve Hope, and his sisters, Pauline Kimbrell, Mildred Herndon, Zelda Carr, and Doris Grigg. Bob spent time in the 1970s as a member of the Kings Mountain Rescue Squad and served on the Kings Mountain Fire Department. He retired from Foote Mineral, where he had worked for many years as an electrician. Bob attended Fruitland Baptist College for ministry, after which he served as preacher at Faith Baptist Church in Bessemer City, NC, and then at Midview Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He loved to be outside gardening and working in his yard, and had a fondness for tinkering with lawn mowers. He also enjoyed hunting and involving his family in the activity. Most of all, Bob cherished spending time with his family and friends. As his illness progressed, he may have forgotten who they were, but he never forgot God. Even in White Oak, he would pray for and preach to anyone who would listen. His loved ones treasure their memories of this dedicated minister, devoted husband, and loving father and PawPaw.

SURVIVORS: Children: Kathy Hope Bowen (Keith) and Ronnie Hope (Robin) both of Kings Mountain, NC Daughter-in-law: Jackie Hope of Gastonia, NC Bob is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with Reverend Gary Teague II officiating.

VISITATION: Wednesday, April 9, 2025, prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:50 A.M.

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
