Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Potter

Betty Potter, 87, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2026.

She was born in Moultrie, Georgia on August 25, 1938, to Fletcher and Pauline Kenney. She lived in Moultrie until she entered college at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1960 she married Jim Potter and for the next 66 years built a life with him, her children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family touched the lives of all who knew her. A lifelong educator, she spent her life creating a warm and welcoming environment, always placing the needs of others before her own and offering encouragement, wisdom, and support to those around her. She enjoyed spending time with her friends – both from church and the DAR, of which she was a member for years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Potter of Kings Mountain; daughter, Edie Brucker of Orlando, Florida; son Tom Potter (Sharon) of Lowell, North Carolina; and son Kenney Potter (Heather) of Charlotte, North Carolina. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and many friends who will miss her dearly.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the many wonderful memories they shared and in knowing that her love will remain with them always.

A service to celebrate Betty's life will be announced by the family at a later date.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to all those who provided care, friendship, and support to Betty throughout her life.

Betty's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
