Shirley Gail Sellers Dixon

Shirley Gail Sellers Dixon, 91, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026 at her home. She was born August 12, 1935 in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late George and Grace McDaniel Sellers and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Gene Dixon and her brother, Bobbie Keith Sellers. Shirley was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She retired from Kings Mountain District Schools after many years of dedicated service. She served as the Library Assistant at Central School, as a secretary in the central office and as a secretary at Kings Mountain Junior High School during her career. Shirley enjoyed staying active, taking walks at Cleveland Mall, and tending to her home. She enjoyed traveling, cruising and visiting old friends when she had the opportunity. Shirley possessed a determination that is rare in people. She always kept going, no matter the obstacle in her way. Her spirit and heart was full of kindness and she was an example to all. She showed us how to treat people in her everyday life. Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always had a nice word for everyone she met. The memory of her kindness, determination and love will be cherished by all who knew and loved her for a lifetime.

SURVIVORS: Children: Jeff Dixon and wife Debra and Christal Dixon, both of Kings Mountain, NC

Grandchildren: Brandon Dixon, Megan Nations (Adam), Kristie Schmultz (Nick) and Michael Jones (Mary)
