Shirley Jane (Poston) Mcmurry

DATELINE:  KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA Shirley Jane McMurry Shirley Jane McMurry, 87, of Shelby, NC, went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2022, at Peak Resources in Shelby, NC. A native of Waco, NC, Shirley was the daughter of the late Fibra and Sarah Self Poston and was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Bill T. McMurry. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, John and Howard Poston and her sister, Lillie Lackey. She graduated from Waco High School and Shelby Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She worked at Kings Mountain Hospital for 36 years where she served in the I.C.U. and C.C.U. Mrs. McMurry was an active member of First Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees and worked in the kitchen providing meals to countless people. Shirley loved traveling and often collected bells from her destinations. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend whose kindness and love will be missed dearly.
