- Howard Stokes Wright, Sr., age 86, a resident of 750 Oak Grove Road, Kings Mountain, NC, died Sunday, December 26, 2010 at White Oak Manor, King Mountain, NC. Born in Cleveland Co. NC to the late William Albertus Wright and Essie Cleo Bell Wright. He was also preceded in death by son, Howard Stokes Wright, Jr. and Granddaughter, Krissy Hine. He graduated from Bethware High School, Kings Mountain, NC. He was retired from the US Postal Service, Kings Mountain, NC after 31 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, NC where he served as Deacon, Clerk, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, Director of Church Training. He was also a member of the Progressive Club, representative to the Boy Scouts, Troop 93, for the Progressive Club, Bethware School Board, and a member of the Oak Grove Fire Department, Kings Mtn. NC. He served in the United States Navy.

Daughters: Beth Wright Gilstrap and husband Tony, Gastonia, NC Marty Wright Blanton and husband Jerry, Kings Mtn. NC
5 Grandchildren: Rusty Wright and wife Andrea; Laura Scism and husband Todd, Chuck Wright and wife Stephanie, Jason Wright and wife Brenda, Rev. Steven Blanton and wife Christen.
6 Great Grandchildren: Levi Wright, Sarah Wright, Charlie Wright, Emma Wright, Justin Fite and Eli Blanton.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Oak Grove Baptist Church, Tuesday, December 28, 2010 11:00 A.M. Rev. Travis Northcutt and Rev. Steven Blanton, officiating.
VISITATION: 10:00 ? 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 prior to the service in Oak Grove Baptist Church Sanctuary.
INTERMENT: Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
