DIED DEC. 26, 2010

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Howard Stokes Wright, Sr., 86, a resident of 750 Oak Grove Road, Kings Mountain, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010 at White Oak Manor, King Mountain. He was born in Cleveland Co. to the late William Albertus Wright and Essie Cleo Bell Wright. He was also preceded in death by son, Howard Stokes Wright, Jr. and Granddaughter, Krissy Hine. He graduated from Bethware High School, Kings Mountain.
He was retired from the US Postal Service after 31 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain where he served as Deacon, Clerk, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, Director of Church Training. He was also a member of the Progressive Club, representative to the Boy Scouts, Troop 93, for the Progressive Club, Bethware School Board, and a member of the Oak Grove Fire Department, Kings Mtn. NC. He served in the United States Navy.
He is survived by Wife of 63 years, Louise Wolfe Wright, Kings Mtn; sons, Charles Wright and wife Martha, Greer, S.C. Bill Wright, Kings Mtn; daughters, Beth Wright Gilstrap and husband Tony, Gastonia Marty Wright Blanton and husband Jerry, Kings Mtn; five grandchildren, Rusty Wright and wife Andrea; Laura Scism and husband Todd, Chuck Wright and wife Stephanie, Jason Wright and wife Brenda, Rev. Steven Blanton and wife Christen and six great-grandchildren: Levi Wright, Sarah Wright, Charlie Wright, Emma Wright, Justin Fite and Eli Blanton.



Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service in Oak Grove Baptist Church Sanctuary
Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday Oak Grove Baptist Church
Burial: Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
