Thomas Dexter Tindall

January 28, 1921 — November 18, 2016

THOMAS DEXTER TINDALL, SR. - Thomas Dexter Tindall, Sr. age 95, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on November 18, 2016 at his home. He was born in Cherokee County, SC to the late Asa Umont Tindall and Ethel Lee Cooper Tindall. He also was preceded in death by sister Marguerite T. McKee and brother Nathaniel Tindall. He graduated from Kings Mountain High School, serving in the KMHS Band from 1938-1940, and was instrumental in helping open the Blue Ridge Parkway. He retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company after 35 years of service. He served in the United States Army during WW II and the Korean Conflict. In the Army he served as a dental technician, Sargent and Insurance Representative. He was a long time member of Kings Mountain Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, served 20 years as Sunday School Teacher and organized the Children Bus Ministry. He was a member of the Fairview Masonic Lodge #339, serving as Master Mason then 33 Degree Mason. He served the lodge as Secretary and Chaplain for 25 years. He also helped organize the Piedmont Piston Range and participated in the John Murphy Toy Run since its inception.

SURVIVORS: Wife of 67 years, Barbara Barker Tindall, Kings Mountain, NC Sons: Thomas D. Tindall Jr, Christopher Lane Tindall, and Gregory Scott Tindall and wife Jan, all of Kings Mountain, NC. Sisters: Edna Earle Tindall, Kings Mountain, NC and Melba McWhiter, Shelby, NC Grandchildren: Leistey E. Tindall, Christopher Lane Tindall Jr., Christa Denise Tindall, and Jana D. Tindall. 2 Great Grandchildren

FUNERAL SERVICE: Kings Mountain Baptist Church, Monday, November 21 , 2016 2:00 PM with Pastor Tim Whitesides officiating.

VISITATION: 12:30 - 2:00 PM Monday, November 21, 2016 prior to the service in the sanctuary of Kings Mountain Baptist Church.

INTERMENT WITH MASONIC RITES AND FULL MILITARY HONORS PROVIDED BY THE MARINE CORPS LEAUGE FOOTHILLS DETACHMENT: at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
