DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA

Vicki Bridges Carter

Vicki Bridges Carter, 72, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 12, 2026, at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, NC. Born on April 24, 1954, in Cleveland County, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jasper Fred Bridges Sr. and Nellie Whetstine Bridges. Vicki was preceded in death by her dear brother Jasper Fred Bridges Jr., nephew Sammy Bridges, niece Angie Bridges, and great-niece Elizabeth Bridges. Throughout her life, Vicki was a member of Long Creek Presbyterian Church, a place she found comfort since childhood. She built a meaningful career in manufacturing, dedicating over 20 years to Activis Pharmaceuticals before retiring. Her passion for reading and love for animals filled her days, as she cared tenderly for her pets and the wildlife that surrounded her home. Vicki’s warm heart extended to a wide circle of friends with whom she shared countless hours of heartfelt conversations, her delightful sense of humor always bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Vicki found comfort and happiness at the beach, savoring the simple pleasures of fresh seafood and the gentle ocean breeze. Her strong character and unwavering determination were evident in the way she faced life’s challenges, always putting the needs of others above her own. Above all, she treasured her role as a grandmother, often saying that her life truly began when her grandchild came into the world. A faithful wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Vicki Bridges Carter leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Cambareri, Brittany and all the staff of Levine Cancer Institute as well as the staff at Atrium Health Cleveland for the compassionate care given to Vicki and her family.
