VIOLET MATTERN BLACKWELDER - Violet Mattern Blackwelder, age 88, resident of Summitt Place, Kings Mountain, NC died May 26, 2011 at Charlotte Health Care, Charlotte, NC. She was born in Shamokin, PA to the late Willard and Lula Beaver Mattern. She was a retired Administrative Asst. at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. A member of St. Paul's Catholic Church; secretary for the Veteran's Association; a member of Sweet Adeline's and volunteer for the Battered Women's Shelter, Greenville, NC. She supported many charities.

SURVIVORS: Sons: Gary Blackwelder, and wife Sharon, Pooler, GA Roger Blackwelder and Lorraine Timlin, Kingston, NY Daughters: Janis Tyson, and husband Ray, Charlotte, NC Linda Bowen and husband Terry, Plymouth, NC 4 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.
