Virgil Connor Cox, 70, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at the Brookdale Rehab center in Easley, SC. He was under the care of Hospice of the Upstate. Virgil was a resident of Kings Mtn, NC.

Virgil was born in Central, SC, a son of the late Rev. Leroy Cox and Loma Voyles Cox. He was married to Becky Bowers of Kings Mtn. NC for 37 years until her passing in 2012. He was retired from the town of Kings Mtn. He was a member of the East Gold Street Wesleyan Church. Virgil was a special husband, brother, uncle, brother in law, and friend.

Surviving are his brother Dr. Thomas L Cox and his wife, Lori of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Blanche Ray and her husband, Jackie and Ruth Atcheson and her husband, Marty all of Central; a sister in law Julia B.Nichols (Sam) of Kings Mtn NC. There are seven nephews Dr. Brian Ray (Shannon) of Boiling Springs, SC, Jason Ray (Sabrina) of Westminster, SC, Dr. Joshua Ray (Rhonda) of Liberty, SC, Dr. John Atcheson (Renee) of Six Mile, SC, Dr. Joe Atcheson (Elizabeth) of Six Mile, SC,  Jacob Cox of Virginia Beach, VA and two nieces Caroline Cox of Virginia Beach, VA and Amber Nichols of Shelby, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be Friday July  19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Wesleyan Church Central, SC with interment at Mountain Rest Cemetery  Kings Mtn, NC at 2:30 PM

The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00

A Graveside Service will be held at Mountain Rest Cemetery on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 2:30 PM.

Officiating the funeral service is Rev. Lawrence Keever and Rev. Mike McClung.

Interment minister is Rev. Jackie Ray

Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens SC is serving the Cox family alongside with Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain NC.
