William Boyd Howell

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. William Boyd Howell, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
Born in Gaston County, he was the son of the late William Thomas Howell and Sarah Jane Dixon Howell.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers; James Howell, Roy Howell, Robert Howell; sisters, Catherine Bar-rett and Grace Ledford.
Retired from the Kings Mountain Post Office, he was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and taught Sunday school for 65 years.
He also played Mill League Baseball. A World War II Veteran, he was hid by the French Underground for six months prior to becoming a prisoner of war for 13 months.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty J. Bridges Howell; daughter, Teresa Graham of Greensboro; grandson, Matthew S. Graham of Asheboro; brother, Ray Howell and wife, Joyce, of Kings Mountain; sisters, Mable Teague, Betty Page and husband Pete, all of Kings Mountain.

Funeral: Tuesday, March 2, 11 a.m., Bethlehem Baptist Church, Kings Mountain
Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 2, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service in the fellowship hall at the church.
