William Robert Knox

William Robert Knox, 87, of Grover, NC, passed away on May 11, 2026 at White Oak Manor in Shelby, NC. Born November 6, 1938 in Union, SC, he was the son of the late Woodrow Knox and Ruth Smith McCutcheon. He was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Wanda Kay Knox, brother Collie Knox, and sisters Louise Eng, Vera Knox, Sally Campbell, and Angie Wingard. William loved fishing and hunting and was also an avid motorcycle rider and member of the Southern Christian Cruisers. He was a devoted husband, beloved father, and loving Pawpaw.

SURVIVORS: Wife of 68 years: Gertrude Philbeck Knox, of the home

Children: Robert Eugene "Gene" Knox (Janet), Tammy Whitaker (Mike), and Danny Knox (Darlene), all of Grover

Siblings: Marie Helmes, Doris McGinnis, and Kenneth Knox (Lynn)

Grandchildren: Daniel Knox (Melissa), Sabrina Gabriele, Mikey Whitaker, Caleb Whitaker, Brandon Jarrett (Tiffany), Blake Jarrett (Christine), Taylor Brittany Knox

Great-grandchildren: Dallas Gabriele, Keelie Gabriele, Grady Jarrett, Jada Jarrett, Gunner Jarrett, Bailey Jarrett, Blake Jarrett, and Zachary Harris

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Mountain Rest Cemetery with Mike Whitaker officiating

VISITATION: Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Parlor of Harris Funeral Home
