William Hoyle Putnam

William Hoyle Putnam, 91, passed away peacefully September 22, 2018 at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain, NC.  He was born November 12, 1926 in Kings Mountain, NC to the late William Dwayne Putnam and Bertha Lala Wright Putnam.  He was an humble and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, a retired machinist with Gossett Machine Works for 42 years, and he enjoyed gardening and walking. He also enjoyed part-time work after retirement at Cleveland County Health Department with Putnam’s Cleaning Service and Cleveland County Recycling Center in Oak Grove.  He was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church where he served as a choir member and church trustee.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Lydia Emma Hicks Putnam. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Susan Wiggins Putnam, son-in-law Bobby Black, great grandchild Dylan Putnam, and brothers Russell Putnam, Max Putnam, D.P Putnam, and Morris Putnam.

Hoyle is survived by his children, Charles W. Putnam (Helen), Ann P. McDaniel (Larry), Peggy P. Black, David H. Putnam (Deborah), and Annette P. Burton (Carl); sisters Betty Lee Putnam Jones and Bertha Sue Putnam Jones; grandchildren Amy P Criswell (Michael), Brandon Putnam (Niki), Darrin Putnam (Melissa), Lee McDaniel (Janet), Cale McDaniel (Jada), Kimberly M. Houston (Mike), Sabrina P. Glenn (Lee), Brian Putnam (Stacey), Jessica Burton(fiancé Tyler Leonhardt, and Spencer Burton; great grandchildren Michael, Karsyn, Hanna, Ryan, Derek, Bryson, Stetson, Lucy, Matthew, Josh, Haley, Austin, Layla, Landyn, and Nathan.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at  4:00pm at Patterson Grove Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Tim Hendricks and Rev. David Webb.

VISITATION: Monday, September 24 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, NC.
