Catherine Mary Carden

Catherine Mary Carden, 85, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on September 10, 2023 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was born in Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Ball and was preceded in death by husband of 57 years, John Ancil Carden, 3 brothers, Charles Ball, Richard Ball, and Butch Ball, and her sister, Irene Semenick. Catherine attended Bethlehem Baptist Church where she enjoyed staying active and loved her church family. She worked as a warehouse supervisor for R and J Sportswear for many years and for the South Carolina Tax Commission until her retirement. Always busy, Catherine cherished going to the Patrick Senior Center where she participated in the knitting, crocheting and ceramic clubs. There she created beautiful hats and blankets for cancer patients at Atrium Health Lavine Cancer Institute and for underprivileged children. Catherine was always a generous person and loved doing for others. Warm and caring, Catherine was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly by all those who love her. 

SURVIVORS: Daughters: Mary C. Hamrick and husband James of Kings Mountain, NC and Cynthia Rubino and husband John, North Caldwell, NJ
Grandchildren: Matthew and Anthony Rubino and Kassidy and Jonathan Hamrick 
A host of loving nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE:  Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 6:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Steve Taylor.  

VISITATION:  Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 5:00 PM.
