DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA JACK SIMS Jack Sims of Sevierville, TN passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018. He was born September 4, 1934 in Kings Mountain, NC. He was the son of Charlie Young Sims and Annie Reba Carpenter Sims. He had one brother, Charles Major Sims who was four years older. Jack attended school in Kings Mountain. During his high school years, Jack worked for a pharmacy delivering medications to customers. He was stationed in Beaufort SC, Yuma AZ, Jacksonville FL, Korea, Vietnam, Spain, and Japan. Jack attended several schools in the Marines to advance his career, eventually attaining the rank of Captain. Jack was home on leave in the spring of 1959 when he went to a restaurant to get something to eat. There he met a cute little waitress. Virginia had to go to the hospital for open heart surgery on February 15, 1995. She passed away that day due to surgical complications.
